Wow. Two posts in the same day. I go from not posting for over a month to more than once a day. Red Bank River Fest is back for three days of free music. There's food vendors and stuff, and of course the awesome atmosphere that Red Bank is famous for giving off. Riverfest is also Jerseys largest free music festival.
They have a bunch of cool things going on such as cruises on the Navesink, an open mic stage, artwork and even a beer garden. You can find more info here.
Anyway, I'm headed there right now see you there!

Video Lessons!!!
Over the past month I've received a hand full of emails from people. Many of you had questions and one person even said "Why don't you make video lessons." Sorry for my late response, I didn't forget about you! School can be hectic around final time. This in combination other responsibilities can explain why I haven't posted anything is over a month.
I thought this was a good idea because I can kill two birds with one stone, Answer questions and make some sort of videos/lessons. The Subjects include: Foot Technique, Multiple hits on a single pedal, Building better chops, What is Dynamics, and Gear. So keep checking back and expect some good videos to pop up sometime around the beginning of next month.
I'll try to answer all of your questions the best I can. If anyone else has questions or comments about anything Drum related feel free to email me at DrumFlyBlog@gmail.com

Scott Pellegrom
Happy thirsty Thursday! Does anyone even say that anymore? Whatever. I bring up Thirsty Thursday because I want you to check out this video from Guitar Centers 2006 Drum-off . Scott Pellrgrom has been performing since the age of five and is currently an international clinician and educator. If you can manage to keep your mind away from the fact that Scotts shoes look like part of an ad campaign from Sprite, you'll notice that his feet are just as articulate as his hands are. Just kidding Scotty P, I love your shoes. Pay attention to his bass drum foots dynamics. This video made me realize that I can improve my sound and style by just paying more attention to my bass foot.

Meet Dub Proof!
What can I say... This is hand crafted Dub at it's finest. Meet Dub Proof, One of New Jerseys hottest reggae bands. If you haven't yet, it's probably time you check them out live. I know it can be scary leaving YouTube for a night but trust me, Dub Proof makes it well worth it. Not only do they put on an awesome show but they are by far the coolest people I have ever had the pleasure of hanging out with. Be sure to friend them on Facebook.
You can catch them playing live this Saturday April 16, 2011 @ Sullivan Hall NYC. 7pm.
More info is here.
Check out their original, "50 Shots" live at The Saint in Asbury Park New Jersey below.

Internet Drummies Unite!
Welcome fellow drum addicts to my attempt at what I call Drum Fly! I plan to use this blog as a news source, entertainment outlet, technology review, and last but not least, a learning tool. I realize that there are a ton of amazing sources out there such as DrummerWorld.com by Bernhard Castiglioni and Drum Channel.com, but I intend to make this a little more personal and local. Much of this will come from my perspective as a 23 year old drummer from New Jersey ( The real NJ... Not this Jersey Shore crap you see on TV)
So... A little more about me. If you haven't figured it out yet, my name is Patrick Clarke, I'm 23 years old and I am currently a student at Kean University, majoring in Communications media and film. I'd rather call it broadcast but thats how things go. I have been playing drums for around 10 years now and I rarely go a day with at least playing on my pad. As far as experience goes, I consider myself your average college student. Tired, Broke, but Passionate. I am not a music major or minor (though there is always a chance in the future). I have played with several bands and projects with styles of music ranging from Hard Rock, to Prog. Rock, all the way to Funk and jazz. On top of my hardcore Drum Kit addiction, I also have a little experience with African percussion.
Added to the technical aspect of drumming, I also enjoy the social aspect. One band in particular really opened up the doors to social networking for me, Dub Proof. Founded by my cousin, Nick Paolise and myself roughly 3 years ago, this Reggae project made me realize the hustle and work involved in making a band, a band. I'm sure you'll hear tons more about them in the future.
Enough about me. I would like to get to know some of you. Once I get settled into the whole blog thing I'll post my Contact information so I can learn a little more about the people that follow me. Hell, maybe I'll even interview some of you and make you or your band a featured artist so I can post it on my blog (Network. Network. Network. ^_^ ).
All in all my goal is to get this thing up and running ASAP and to have you get something out of it. So sit back, enjoy, and check back regularly. Cheers!
"It's not a problem... It's percussion."
-Patrick Clarke
